PSTN (Public Switched Telephony Network) is the analogue network for customers in the UK. Analogue lines are single lines that are primarily used for making voice calls, connecting to fax machines and connecting to a modem for dial up internet usage.

If you decide to sign up with Nucom Europe, we can offer you additional savings on your line rentals as well as your calls (compared with BT Retail).

A range of Calling Features are available on your analogue line once you have transferred to Nucom Europe.

ISDN2e is a digital communications service from Nucom Europe that gives you voice, data and faster access to the Internet for two to eight users (small to medium businesses).

ISDN2e (Integrated Services Digital Network) is the equivalent of two digital telephone lines known as channels that operate at speeds of 64kbps each. The two channels can work independently allowing the user to make a call and use the Internet or receive a fax at the same time.

An ISDN2e line can offers speeds of up to 128kbps when the two channels are combined to connect to the Internet, which is more than twice as fast as an analogue modem. ISDN2e is also available as a conversion service from Analogue, contact our Sales Team for further details. Because the connection is digital, there is the added benefit of increased clarity for voice calls and larger data files and emails can be sent and received more quickly and securely.

Nucom Europe can also offer Digital Business and Digital Home (BT Highway), which is an ISDN2e line that offers three numbers (two analogue and one digital) so that you can use a separate number for your phone, fax and computer.

ISDN30e is an advanced digital solution from Nucom Europe for eight to thirty users (larger businesses). It is the equivalent of 30 analogue lines each of which work at 64kbps and can be connected to a digital telephone system for phoning, faxing and connectivity.

ISDN30e is ideal for busy call centres as it provides a clear and fast connection when making voice calls and can also be used to connect a number of pc’s to the internet or for high quality video conferencing.

ISDN30e provides call transfer between your different channels and enables Nucom Europe In features.

Nucom Europe can install new ISDN2e lines in 8-20 working days and ISDN30e can take up to a calendar month to provision as a Service Provider with our wholesale providers. A nominated engineer will arrive and fit the equipment accordingly. Nucom Europe simply arranges and manages the installation for you.

A range of ISDN calling features are available once you have transferred your lines to Nucom Europe or had new ones installed. These include:

DDI (direct dial in)

Individual numbers supplied to phones, faxes and computers and are available on both ISDN2e and ISDN30e. Using DDI you can allocate individual extensions their own telephone numbers, so people can ring individuals in your company directly without going via your switchboard. DDI allows you to increase the amount of telephone numbers available for use with your ISDN2e and ISDN30e channels.

Calling Line Identity Presentation (CLIP)

Lets you see the number of the person calling before you pick up the phone, enabling you to greet people in an appropriate manner.

Calling Line Identity Restriction (CLIR)

This prevents your directory number from being released at any time. It is useful if you don't want people to call you back, i.e. if are running an outbound telemarketing campaign.

Presentation Number - Calling Line Identity (PN)

Presentation Number (PN) allows you to specify a telephone number for your Calling Line Identity (CLI) for outgoing calls, which may be different to your usual telephone number.

Connected Line Identity Presentation (COLP)

Allows you to see the number of the line that you have been connected to.

Connected Line Identity Restriction (COLR)

Restricts the access of incoming callers to your identity.

Non-geographical numbers Number Translation Services (NTS) are non-geographic inbound numbers that enables your customers to call you at a free or flat rate irrespective of their geography.

Typically, NTS numbers are an effective aid when used in marketing campaigns, help lines, information lines and hotlines and are easily identifiable by their prefix of 08 or 09.

Using an NTS number is a proven way to raise a company’s profile by providing it with an instantly and easily recognisable number. Nucom Europe offer different service options depending on the type of service you wish to provide:

0800 Free phone

Call is FREE to the Caller, you pay for the full cost of the inbound call.

0845 Local Rate

Caller is charged at the Local Rate of their Telephone Service Provider, you pay a small contribution. These are being replaced by the 0844 number range.

0844 Rate

Caller is charged at the rate of their Telephone Service Provider for the call type determined by you. call types vary from 1p per minute up to 10p with different rates at different times of the day. In most instances you will receive a rebate.

0870 National Rate

Caller is charged at the National Rate of their Telephone Service Provider, you pay nothing towards the call and could receive a revenue stream depending upon the volume. These are being replaced by the 0871 number range.

0871 Rate

Caller is charged at the rate of their Telephone Service Provider for the call type determined by you. call types vary from 4p per minute up to 10p with different rates at different times of the day. In most instances you will receive a rebate.
